(I heard from Ken Swain that Norm - Jans father wasn't well
and sent him an e-mail)
I am replying on behalf of Norman as sadly we is unable to do so himself. He was very touched to receive your good wishes and is delighted to know that the "Vampire Association" is flourishing.
I am very sad to have to tell you that Dad will not recover as they have discovered him to be in the final throes of cancer of the stomach and liver. He is now having palliative care in Addenbrookes hospital and although his body is giving up, he most certainly is not. He is as lucid as he ever was and it has thrilled him no end to be in touch.
Please pass on any news you may have and I will ensure that he gets it.
With our thanks too,
Warmest wishes,
Jan (Norman's daughter)

It is with much sadness that I write to tell you that my darling Dad died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning. He was really thrilled to have had renewed contact and appreciated your warm wishes, as have my Mum and myself.
With warmest wishes.

Great to see a website for a proper ship!! Lets hope they keep her alongside in Darling Harbour! not sink or scrap her, like those "plastic yank DDG's!!!" I have many photos from 1965/66 (the last FESR trip) which I will dig out and forward - Will be in Sydney in a week and will not miss a visit to her, and 2C Starboard. BZ.
